Aotearoa Safaris and our sister company Blazing Adventures are based on the banks of the Whanganui River, well known for some of the best trout fishing in the world. This stretch of river hosted the 2020 Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships and the 2009 World Fly Fishing Championships among others. Both brown trout and rainbow trout can be caught here.

Whether you’re an experienced angler or you’ve never fished before, this is a unique and exhilarating way of fishing for the truly adventurous! Our Jet Boat will zoom you down-river through whitewater rapids and into the remote reaches of Te Awa Tupua, the only river in Aotearoa to be legally recognised as a person. You’ll get to know the special secrets and moods of our beautiful river as you stop at remote, untouched fishing spots accessible only by boat.
